The mighty Mekong river, its branches creates the enormous fertile delta where people live as floating life revolving around, cannals crisscrossing the area the short and convenient way to wonder around this area through small boat as Long Truyen ancient village is symbol of typical small Mekong life style.
Long Truyen ancient village – Can Tho
5km far away from center of Can Tho city, Long Truyen ancient village which was considered as the sophisticated culture convergence of botanical garden floating life style in the south of Vietnam with vetiges complex from Binh thuy temple, Hoi Lim, Nam Nha, Long Quang pagodas to Man garden war battle field, and fruit trees along the road connecting to Phong Dien, Cai Ram floating markets, all of these make this village as tourist attraction destination.
The former name village was in 1844 as Binh Hung with 6 collectives then 1852 as Binh Thuy, at the beginning of 20 century, people changed as Long Tuyen with the meaning as the landscape picture of “water in Binh Thuy river run zigziag as the dragon body lieing, the river open its mouth to keep the pearl, then branches run 4 direction as dragon feet, the tail of dragon – the end of village, dragon scale – the wave of the river”
Long Tuyen area as symbol of small mighty Mekong delta, which creates botanical garden floating life style beauty as a picture of wonderful landscape, a lot of houses and fruit trees appear on two bank of river. Moreover, the eco- environment of the village is not affected by the fast economy development in the south of Vietnam.
A little bit culture exchange with Khmer, Chinese, French, Janpanese, America, but it does not affect its own culture, just only diversify the culture in this village. People in the village are so friendly, open-heart, generous, the life style is not so buy, no rush for working as city life which followes time of clock for working, which may be from the drifting life in this area.
By water way coming here through boat trip, tourist can escape from daily city life and have leisure at each moment, and keep its culture impression in their mind.
